The Bournemouth Youth Handbell Team is entirely self-funded, relying on donations, income from sales of CD’s, fees from Concerts and Events, etc, to fund the training for our young musicians.

In 2025, we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary. We’re planning an Anniversary Concert Tour, to involve the current team as well as some of our BYHT Alumni; young and not-so-young people now, who have benefitted from this unique musical experience over the last twenty years.

In 2025, we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary and planning an Anniversary Concert Tour, to involve the current team as well as some of our BYHT Alumni; young and not-so-young people now, who have benefitted from this unique musical experience over the last twenty years. In 2015, we travelled to Milan, Italy for a concert tour, which included a performance at the Milan World Expo. An incredible experience for all the young people, many of whom have gone on to use their musical experience in their future lives.

We welcome sponsorship for individual members of the team, to help them afford the tour costs, and open up the opportunity of a lifetime.

Renewal of Flight Cases

Our previous cases were over twenty years old – a mixture of adapted briefcases and wooden boxes. Although we have taken these across the UK and abroad to Italy (on our 2015 Tour to Milan), a number of these are really showing their age and some had substantial amounts of gaffer tape holding them together!

Consequently, our most recent project is a new set of handbells cases, supplied by a manufacturer of a specialist handbell flight cases in Dallas, Texas, US – ‘Port-a-Bell’ Inc.

As shown on the pictures here, the flight cases are of high quality, and the slots are specifically designed to fit our set of Whitechapel Bells, with the appropriate sized mouldings inside the robust cases. They are also fitted with wheels and have modern flight case security closures and sprung grab-handles.
